Dear People of St. Christopher’s, As you are aware, Father Rick is retiring and his final Sunday at St. Christopher’s will be June 20, 2010. We will all miss him and the ministry that he has provided for almost eight years. The search process for a new rector is underway. The Vestry has met \with Bishop Lillibridge and Father Dohoney who will lead us through the process. As Senior Warden it is my responsibility to select the person who will serve as the Search Committee chair. I have selected Anne Cassidy and she has graciously accepted. I sincerely believe Anne will do a great job. She is well organized, communi- cative and experienced in leadership roles. Names of parishioners who have been nominated or expressed a willingness to serve on the committee have been submitted to Anne and me. The next step is for us to select nine additional people for the committee and present this slate to the Vestry for ratification. Following the selection of the members we think would represent us all well and their acceptance of this role, they will be submitted to the vestry for ratification at the their meeting on May 13th, and commissioned at the 11:00 a.m. service on May 16th. Then the real work begins. And it’s not just for those on the committee. The first order of business is to prepare the Parish Profile. I cannot express how important it is to have everyone’s input for this part of the process. Only in this way will we develop a profile that is accurate and expresses who we are, as well as what our priorities and dreams are for our parish. This will be done at a Congregational Meeting which is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2010. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude no later than 2:00 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please put this date on your calendar now. Ed Dohoney, Deployment Officer for the Diocese, will be with us to lead us through this important process. Following the preparation of the profile, Ed and Bishop Lillibridge will be able to offer the Search Committee a list of priests whom they think would best serve St. Christopher's. HELPING “HELPING HANDS”
Many people in our community are having serious problems making ends meet. We want to do what we can to help. As part of your weekly offering, please bring canned goods that we can donate to Helping Hand. On behalf of the hungry and depressed, we thank you.
HEALTH SCREENING St. Christopher’s will sponsor a Life Line Health Clinic on Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Parish Hall between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms, hardening of the arteries in the legs, atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat and bone density screening to check for osteoporosis. All five screenings will take from 60 to 90 minutes. Cost of the Wellness Package and Heart Rhythm is $149.00. Many insurance policies may cover some of the cost. The time slots fill up quickly, so if you wish to participate, please call 1/888/653-6441 for additional information and to pre-register. We will also include flyers about the event in upcoming Sunday service bulletins.
MOVING TO THE ELECTRONIC AGE The Monthly Spirit
We are now distributing the monthly newsletter via e-mail to those who have access to a computer and who would prefer to receive it in this manner. This saves considerable expense in terms of paper, ink and postage, not to mention the time involved in folding and application of labels and stamps. The newsletter for June will be sent out soon. If you have not received the newsletter for May, please call the office and leave us a message. We will be glad to re-send it if you will provide a valid email address. Or if you prefer, it will be mailed to you. If you are now receiving it by mail and would prefer to receive it via email, there is a sign-up sheet in the parish hall. Please be assured that we will still be happy to mail the newsletter to those of you who do not have e-mail capabilities.
For those of you who HAVE received the newsletter by email, we would appreciate knowing how you like it.

The Outreach Committee Book Sale was a big success, making over $2000 (as of latest count 06-01-2001) for the Outreach fund. This could not have happened with out the help of so many people. Please know that it was greatly appreciated. All of the remaining books and other items have been boxed up and need to be taken to the Half Price Bookslocations in San Antonio (some still left, folks).. They will accept 2 boxes at a time and will go through them to determine which ones they are willing to purchase. Then they will recycle the remaining items. If you are going into San Antonio, we would appreciate your taking a couple of boxes with you.
