Christian Formation (Adults)

Adult Sunday School: A lively adult group meets on Sunday mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Currently we looking at the letter of Paul to the Romans. The class is open to everyone and you don't have to be a Bible scholar to attend. Bring your favorite Bible (or we'll provide one for you). If you would like to purchase a copy of the guidebook, Paul for Everyone, by N.T. Wright speak to Fr. Allan or call the office. For a great time and interesting discussions we will see you there!

Wednesday Men's Group Breakfast and Study:  Join the Men at 7 am for breakfast tacos followed by an interesting study topic led by Fr. Allan. We are currently investigating Native American Spirituality - its history and its presence today.  For an interesting discussion and good food, come early and invite a friend.

Women's Wednesday Bible Study: Led by Jeannie Allbritton starts at 10 am in the Parish Hall.  All women are invited to attend.

Thursday Bible Study: Fr. Allan's original "Slo-Walk" through the Bible begins each Thursday at 10 am. in the Parish Hall.  We read line by line through the Scriptures, stopping along the way for discussion and comments.  Currently we are in the book of Genesis, and no doubt will be there for a while!  So join us for interesting and thoughtful discussion. There is never any homework and you don't have to be a Bible scholar to attend.  Heck you don't even have to own a Bible!  We have plenty to loan.

Cursillo: Cursillo means "short course." In this case, it is a short course in Christianity. The programs are sponsored throughout the year by the Diocese of West Texas and usually held at one of the Diocesan church camps. The retreat-style weekend normally begins on Thursday evening and runs through Sunday noon.  Several of our members are quite active in the program and would be happy to help with planning and registration.  Forms are available in the office, and some scholarships are available through the church.

Christian Formation for Children and Youth

St. Christopher's is committed to raising up the children of God of every age.  We are delighted with improvements made to our nursery (for ages 0-5 years) and developing programs for our youngest members with the help of the Diocesan Christian Education department. At St. Christopher's children take part fully in the Sunday worship life of the church.  Resources are available in the narthex to help "tell the story of Jesus".

Older youth and teens of St. Christopher's take part as acolytes and lay readers on Sunday. Many of our teens are active in Young Life and other Christian social groups in the community.  St. Christopher's has supported Young Life through private donations and gifts from the Outreach committee.   Sunday Nursery opens at 9:45 a.m.

Baptism and Confirmation

If you have already been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, you are member of the Christian church and may be registered as such on the rolls of St. Christopher's simply by speaking with the Rector.  If you would like to be baptized or have a child to be baptized  please speak with the Rector.  After baptism it is the custom of all members to be confirmed by the Bishop.  Individuals coming from other churches or denominations may be either confirmed or received at St. Christophers.  Classes for baptism and confirmation are offered at various times throughout the year.
